If you are a writer who hopes to publish a book, these classes
are
perfect because they allow you to work with an editor on an hourly
basis as much or as little as you want. You can get expert help to
improve your manuscript before you submit it to any type of
publisher. Full or partial edits accepted.
As a book doctor, Yvonne will teach the basics of writing fiction
and will focus on plot and character development, writing dialog,
making good transitions, working with flashbacks, and giving the
overall story a cohesive flow. You provide the manuscript or material
you would like help with and Yvonne will provide personal assistance with
any aspect of writing or editing.
For writers seeking to improve a non-fiction manuscript,
Yvonne will act as a book shepherd to help you get your information organized,
document your resources and in-text citing, format your bibliography,
and lay out your book using styles in MS Word.
Both fiction and non-fiction classes will work to improve the mechanics
of writing such as grammar, spelling, punctuation. Students will
also learn proper page formatting, how to copyright the manuscript,
how to get
an ISBN. Publishing options and guidance for your best publishing
path will also be discussed.
Weekly assignments will be given and graded. Students will be given encouragement and help in specific areas of need
on the entire manuscript or just one chapter.
Class times are
negotiated with the student and may be conducted via
email, in person (Nashville area), or by telephone. The cost per student
is $50 per hour. You decide how many hours you want to work with our professional editor. Learn more about our
editing services.
